Photo Exhibition - Save the Date

Really happy to announce a photo exhibition organised by some of our most committed volunteers.

The event includes a stunning photographic exhibition on EducAid's work in
Sierra Leone, with a focus on the obstacles faced by girls and women
in the country. The talks originate from interviews held with girls in Sierra
Leone about their experiences, and the issues of being a woman in the country.
The evening is being held to raise money for the vital work required in Sierra Leone.

17:30, Thursday 16th October 2014

Our World, Our Eyes, Our Imagination

In June and July 2012 the students of EducAid Lumley, EducAid Rolal and EducAid Maronka took part in a project to learn photography. The stories of their lives in Sierra Leone along with their 'snaps' have been published by one of our most valuable volunteers, Irena Przybyl, in a book entitled .Our World, Our Eyes, Our Imagination'.

The children are extremely gracious for the help they are give, but incredibly excited about the book they are contributing to, which will help them to help themselves.

Out of the 85 children involved, only four had used a camera before. The work they produced is of a very high standard, showing life at school, traditional and interesting Sierra Leone, their homes and their communities.

The books are now available to buy! They are beautifully put together and tell a real story of children's lives in Sierra Leone. It is a great way to support EducAid and to have something to share with friends, equally it would make a wonderful gife - simultaneously supporting our work in Sierra Leone and spreading the word of the charity.

The book retails at £15 plus £2 postage & packing.

There are a couple of ways to order and pay for one of these amazing books:

  • Cheques can be made payable to 'Our World, Our Eyes, Our Imagination' - inbox Irena and she'll pass on her address
  • Transfer direct to Barclays sort code: 20 72 67 Account: 93616703 - please put your name as the reference so that I can identify who the payment has come from.
    • Inbox or email Irena your name, address, qty of books and amount transferred and once received I'll post out your book(s).
You can contact irena through this link hereand the facebook page for 'Our World, Our Eyes, Our Imagination' is here.

Thank you so much to Irena for making this happen, and for creating such a wonderful collection of stories and pictures.

Coming soon: a new face of EducAid Sierra Leone

So..... it's still the same old EducAid working in the same ways:  High quality education for the most vulnerable in Sierra Leone; Great value for money; Destroying poverty with education; A values led approach to all we do etc etc.  but we are getting a new face.
The website may have served its purpose for some time but we are very happy that a new shiny face of EducAid is on its way.
Marcus Smith has worked very hard on thinking about how best to present what we do to the world. Dan Vernon, photographer, visited the project and has taken some beautiful photos for us and Emily Bowden, having worked hard for weeks on this project, is now putting the final touches to a fantastic new site where we can properly showcase our work to our partners, donors and friends.
Thank you to all those involved in this big project.
Watch this space guys - the new face of EducAid is coming!
